The winner is...

Well, the weekend came and went...very fast!  We are going to be leaving for Spring Break in a couple of days and trying to finish many things before we go . It always seems that trying to get ready for a vacation is so much work, that by the time your ready to go your exhausted and have no energy for your trip...anyone else feel the same way? lol

So, I do have a winner for the CSN giveaway, but before I get to that I wanted to share a different kind of winner.

My son E is in scouts and they had their Pinewood Derby this last Saturday.  E is my 4th child and has been very excited to finally get to do this event.

E's Pinewood Derby car!
E and Mr. W worked very hard on designing his car and all the details that went into it.  It turned out great and we all had anticipation that it might just win!

So off to the Pinewood Derby we went.  I love this event, so many unique and creative cars.  The boys do such a great job!

The line up!
The check in begins and the cars are all lined up...ready to race!  E is very excited to see how his will do.

Get ready, set...go!!
After many races, the results are in and sad to say...E's car didn't place where he would have liked it to. I then could see the disappointment and sadness in his face.  Oh, no I could see the tears welling up in his eyes ...here come's the waterworks.  Mr. W and I go to E and have him step out into the hall to talk with us.  I think one of the hardest things as a parent to have to deal with, is seeing our kids hearts broken and knowing their hurt.

Waiting with anticipation as he watched the races...
After a few minutes of reassuring and telling him that it is the experience that matters and not who wins...o.k. and telling him we will go celebrate for his hard work at Red Robins...he dried his eyes and said "maybe next year". It is just one of those things we have to go through in life, sometimes we win and sometimes we don't, but it is what we take away from the experience that matters.

Most Spirited...great job E!
In the end, he received the most spirited car award and he was quite happy about that!

I love this kid! Always a big heart and kind! and...
Always a winner in my book!! ;)

Finally I am ready to share the winner of the CSN giveaway....

I have so much more coming up for you all, so stay tuned!

Now to get back to finishing things for our trip!!

Hugs and love friends,

  1. What an awesome kid you have! My hubby and his brother built a car as teens that they race as a hobby locally. It's not the "winner" at most races, but they have a blast working on it and racing it. And we have a blast as a family watching and supporting them. When we saw the pictures of the car your son made and the others, we thought for sure he had to win at least one of the awards. It looks great! Tell him to keep up the good work and the great attitude and to keep having FUN with it no matter what! :)

  2. I know my first comment was too long already, but I have to add a P.S. -
My 3 year old son walked in and saw the picture of several of the cars and told me to "go back" to it. I asked him which one he liked best. He crawled up on my lap and pointed to your sons ( I promise, with NO prompting from me at all!)!!! Now, he wants to make one like it. Your son just inspired my son.!
